During the night of August 23, occupiers launched an assault on Ukraine using 49 combat drones – preliminary reports suggest 36 were intercepted. This update was provided by the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to their data, starting Friday evening, invaders targeted Ukrainian territories with Shahed-type drones and UAV decoys originating from Shatalovo (Smolensk region), Kursk, Millerovo (Rostov region), and Primorsko-Akhtarsk (Krasnodar region).

Defensive operations against the aerial assault involved electronic warfare units, unmanned system divisions, and mobile fire teams from the Defense Forces.
As of 8:30 AM, preliminary assessments indicate that 36 Shahed drones and decoy UAVs were neutralized or suppressed across northern, eastern, and central regions of the country.
Military officials reported impacts from 13 drones at seven sites within Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, and Sumy oblasts.
In Konotop (Sumy oblast), three strikes occurred with no casualties. Minor damage to residential buildings was reported by Mayor Artem Semenikhin, who stated that invaders targeted a previously destroyed infrastructure facility. He also warned of heightened risks for additional Russian strikes within the next two days.
Russian forces conducted 41 attacks on Kramatorsk (Donetsk oblast) within 24 hours, according to military administration head Oleksandr Honcharenko.
Regional authorities reported two fatalities in Kostiantynivka and seven injuries across the oblast since August 22, as confirmed by Vadym Filashkin, head of the regional administration.
In Dnipropetrovsk oblast, no casualties were reported following UAV attacks, though fires broke out in Pokrovska community and Pavlohrad, as noted by regional governor Serhii Lysak.
