In the Kyiv region, a seven-year-old boy unintentionally shot a six-year-old girl using his father’s firearm. Law enforcement is investigating the incident, and the boy’s parent has been detained.
In Kyiv Oblast, authorities are examining the circumstances of a fatal accident where a child died after being struck by a gunshot from a neighbor’s boy. A criminal case has been initiated, and the father of the boy is in custody, as confirmed by the Regional National Police Directorate, reports UNN.

According to police, on August 23 around 4:00 PM, a caller reported discovering a 6-year-old girl unconscious with an arm injury in a residential home.
“Officers established preliminarily that a 7-year-old boy was playing indoors with his neighbor’s daughter. The minor picked up his father’s hunting rifle and discharged it toward the girl. The victim died from her injuries,” police stated.
The boy’s father was detained under Article 208 of Ukraine’s Criminal Procedure Code.
A criminal proceeding under Part 1, Article 115 of Ukraine’s Criminal Code has been opened. Charges against the father include gross negligence in childcare responsibilities and improper firearm storage (Articles 166 and 264 of the Criminal Code).
Investigative measures continue to clarify all aspects of the case.
