Farm workers in the Kherson region, despite the challenging security landscape, are continuing their harvest, having sown 232,000 hectares for this year’s crop, as announced by the head of the regional military administration, Oleksandr Prokudin.
“Currently, the harvest is underway in the fields of Kherson region. Despite the full-scale war, the difficult security situation, and constant shelling, farmers are persevering in their work and ensuring food security,” he stated on Telegram on Sunday.
According to the RVA data, 232,000 hectares were planted for this year’s harvest in Kherson region: of these, 125,500 hectares are for grain and legume crops, 97,000 for technical crops, and nearly 9,000 hectares more for vegetables, watermelons, and melons. In particular, sunflowers, similar to last year, were sown across 70,000 hectares. And despite all the obstacles, there is optimism that a good harvest will be reaped this year.
“I express gratitude to our farmers for their resilience, hard work, and dedication to their land,” Prokudin wrote.
