As Ukrinform reports, this was announced by the press service of the Ministry of Defense.

“Last month, units of the Defense Forces stopped or significantly restricted the operation of at least 18 large oil refineries in the Russian Federation, with a combined design capacity exceeding 110 million tons of oil per year,” the statement reads.

It is noted that during May, the geography of Ukrainian deep strike operations covered over ten regions of the Russian Federation, including Moscow, Vladimir, Kirov, and Samara oblasts.

The press service emphasized that the long-range strikes on Russia were aimed, in particular, at depriving the enemy of the economic means to continue its aggression.

Among the targets hit were the Tuapse, Ryazan, Volgograd, Saratov, Perm, and Kirishi oil refineries, oil terminals in Novorossiysk and Taman, as well as a number of oil depots and logistics hubs.

In addition, four sites of the military-industrial complex and chemical industry of the Russian Federation were struck, including the “VNIIRE-Progress,” “Angstrem,” “Metafrax Chemicals” plants, and the Bryansk Chemical Plant.

Furthermore, according to the Ministry of Defense, 15 sites of the Russian Navy, including ships and port infrastructure in Primorsk, Kaspiysk, and Novorossiysk, as well as objects of military aviation, air defense, electronic intelligence, and the “Iskander-M” missile system, were hit.
The press service stressed that the use of long-range weapons against targets on the territory of the Russian Federation undermines the aggressor state’s economic potential, directly limiting its ability to finance and sustain prolonged combat operations. Additionally, striking strategic targets deep within enemy territory creates conditions for seizing the initiative and securing a strong position for Ukraine in resolving the war.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, in April, Ukraine struck 14 oil refineries and terminals in Russia, including those in the Urals, which had historically been considered deep rear territory for the Russian Federation.
